Dear Friends and Families of the Kiever Synagogue:
After years of discussion, a small committee has been formed to proceed with the documentation of the history of the Kiever Synagogue. Initially, we plan to inventory, catalogue and preserve documents and artifacts held by The Kiever and to work towards making these available in an archival gallery. This will hopefully attract the interest of the original families of the congregation and other families in Toronto with roots and connections to Jewish life in Kensington, as well as scholarly researchers and visitors to Toronto. Artifacts of international Judaica will also be housed in our gallery.
We also hope to collect as many oral histories, photos and stories as possible to preserve for future generations.
This is a large undertaking with both short and long term objectives that will require the assistance of volunteers with an interest in history, archives, writing and conducting oral histories.
If you would like to help, whether with stories, pictures or artifacts –just let us know. We’d love your help!
